The story of the Geneva Glass

The project to design a unique wine glass for Geneva was born during a meeting between wine producers and Univerre officials. The idea was to create a glass that brings together the consumer, producers and public entities.

It all started during a meal at the restaurant owner, Yves Casanova, of the Café d’Avusy, famous for its Geneva specialities. This theme inspired many people! And so the futuristic discussions about a 100% Geneva glass began.

Several ideas, each one crazier than the last, came up. Imagine, for example, the water game of Geneva represented on the base of the glass. After a phase of research and development, with several tests, the Geneva Glass was born.

The wine glass chosen, having passed all the tests brilliantly, is a glass combining professionalism, elegance and robustness. It is very versatile and meets the needs of the greatest number of people, whether they are winemakers, restaurant owners, municipalities or private individuals. The foot of the glass was custom-made and takes up the motto ‘Post tenebras lux’ found on the Geneva coat of arms, meaning: “after the darkness, the light”.
