An interactive customer experience: the Smart Bottle from Cave du Rhodan
The Swiss Winery of the Year 2022 not only stands out for its excellent wines, but also for its innovative projects.
Fortunella Rosécco sparkling wine is a very recent but innovative project. This sparkling wine is based around the famous Ouessant sheep, which Cave du Rhodan uses to weed the vines naturally.
The 2023 edition: Fortunella Rosécco sparkling wine becomes a customer experience
We accompanied Olivier Mounir to Vercorin to find out more about Ouessant sheep: “Exactly 12 years ago, my son Luc convinced me to buy some Ouessant sheep,” says Olivier Mounir. “But those few sheep twelve years ago have since become a large flock,” continues Olivier. What began twelve years ago is continued today with great pride by Olivier: “I know almost every sheep!” In the middle of his flock, a sheep comes up to him with a small grey spot on its forehead: “It’s Jaelle, I recognise her perfectly, because we had to bottle-feed her”.
For the 2023 edition, they have come up with something very special. The bottle is to become unique thanks to an NFC tag. “The flock of sheep has grown so much after 12 years that we absolutely need names,” jokes Mounir, “which is why we’ve come up with something very special for Fortunella Rossecco 2023.
This is how the Smart Bottle from Cave du Rhodan came into being: As soon as you touch the NFC tag on the bottle with your smartphone, you go straight to the Fortunella Rossecco information page. A talking sheep and dancing sheep invite you to help Olivier choose a name for his new sheep. Customers can give free rein to their creativity and name their future sheep. From all the entries, names will be chosen for the next edition and will eventually be printed on the next series of bottles.
Wine experience and NFC: what is it all about?

Even more unique through digital printing on bottles
A special and innovative design should be duly celebrated. Cave du Rhodan thought so, too. For the magnum edition of the sparkling wine Fortunella Rosécco, 3 additional designs were developed at once:
The cycling sheep
The golfing sheep
The skiing sheep
In the field of bottle printing, digital printing opens up a fascinating world of possibilities.
