Switzerland’s most modern washing centre: completely renovated and setting new quality standards!
A step into the future of sustainable bottle washing
With the growing importance of sustainability and the increasing requirements for reusable glass bottles, the renovated and larger washing centre in Switzerland is setting new quality standards in industrial bottle washing. Thanks to state-of-the-art equipment and optimised processes, the centre meets the highest quality standards while reducing losses due to damaged or unusable bottles to a minimum. This comprehensive modernisation not only makes it one of the most advanced of its kind, but also underlines the increasing relevance of sustainable recycling management in the glass bottle sector.
Outstanding expertise for flawless bottle quality
The washing centre combines decades of experience with state-of-the-art standards to ensure the exceptional quality of every single glass bottle. Thanks to the precise and efficient process, the bottles are delivered wine-sterile – ready for direct bottling of wine without additional cleaning steps.
Each bottle undergoes a comprehensive quality check, during which even the smallest defects are recognised and sorted out. With an impressive capacity of 12,000 bottles per hour and a washing cycle of just 20 minutes, the centre guarantees not only maximum efficiency but also absolute reliability. This expertise makes Univerre’s washing centre the preferred partner for customers with the highest standards of cleanliness and quality.
Innovative washable self-adhesive labels – another step towards greater sustainability
The new washable self-adhesive labels, available exclusively from Univerre, represent a further milestone in the sustainable use of glass bottles. These innovative labels are designed so that they can be removed effortlessly and without leaving any residue during the cleaning process. This drastically reduces the loss rate of damaged bottles from 15% to just 5% – a decisive contribution to conserving resources.
The washable labels not only support more efficient reuse of glass bottles, but also offer a reliable and environmentally friendly solution for customers who value sustainability. With this groundbreaking innovation, Univerre once again sets an example for the responsible use of resources and offers an exclusive solution that perfectly combines functionality and environmental protection.
Proven quality: washable self-adhesive labels tested under real conditions
In our in-house laboratory, we use a special machine that simulates the ageing of bottles under real conditions. For this test, the bottles were aged over a period of 5 months to ensure that the washable self-adhesive labels function reliably even after prolonged use or storage.
The bottles were then tested under industrial cleaning conditions: 80°C warm water, lye and the movement of the water simulated the actual washing process. The result was impressive: the label detached itself completely from the bottle within just 3 minutes without leaving any residue.
In comparison, a conventional self-adhesive label requires significantly more effort and often leaves behind stubborn residues that can impair the reusability of the bottle. This comprehensive test process impressively demonstrates that the new washable labels are not only resource-saving and efficient, but also durable and robust – a real step forward for the sustainable reuse of glass bottles.
Univerre label: Reliable adhesion even in icy conditions
The Univerre label impresses with its exceptional reliability: it sticks securely even in an ice container filled with water!
Sustainability at the highest level – a holistic approach
The renovated washing centre not only sets new standards in bottle washing, but also in terms of sustainability. With a well thought-out combination of energy efficiency, resource conservation and climate-friendly technologies, the entire process is designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
Thanks to the connection to solar panels, a large part of the energy requirement is covered sustainably. Maximum conservation of resources is also prioritised when cleaning the bottles: The lye used to remove the labels is continuously filtered, cleaned and reused – a closed cycle with no waste.
The water that is used for the bottles at the end of the washing process is reused for washing the cups, which significantly reduces water consumption. Even in logistics, attention is paid to climate friendliness: Electric forklift trucks are already in use, and electric lorries will be added to the fleet this year.
This holistic approach underlines the washing centre’s commitment to sustainability and makes it a pioneer in the industry.
Sustainability meets economy: why reusing glass bottles makes sense
Washing your bottles not only offers you ecological benefits, but is also a smart economic decision. Here are the key arguments:
- 85% CO₂ savings
Washing bottles reduces CO₂ emissions by an impressive 85% compared to producing new bottles – a clear contribution to climate protection.
- Saving on packaging material
With the new Univerre cups, you need less cardboard packaging, saving resources and costs.
- Cost efficiency through balance
A good balance between washing your bottles and buying new bottles reduces the cost of new glass. This solution is both economical and environmentally friendly. You also benefit from free home delivery from 6 combined pallets (new bottles and wash glass).
- Sustainability as a sales argument
Your decision in favour of reusable bottles sends a strong signal to your customers. Show them that you take their ecological values into account and actively practise sustainability.
- Savings on VEG fees
By washing your bottles, you can save 4 to 6 centimes per bottle on VEG fees. This is easy on your budget and at the same time encourages multiple use of your bottles.
Take advantage of these benefits and make washing your bottles an integral part of your sustainable business model – for the environment, your customers and the environment.
