Exactly ten years ago, in 2014, our CEO, Fabio Naselli, made a decision that was more than just a vision – it was a promise to the future. To mark Univerre’s 40th anniversary, we wanted to create something unique – a gift that not only promised enjoyment, but also told a story.

Together with the Rugen Distillery, we brought this project to life. On 8 May 2014, a 500-litre Oloroso sherry cask from Jerez in Spain was filled with clear original distillate, the so-called ‘New Make’. An exceptional single malt whisky made from 100% malted barley matured in this cask for over a decade. The entire production and maturation process took place at the distillery – exclusively in sherry casks.

After exactly ten years of patience and dedication, the whisky was bottled at the Rugen Distillery on the 22 of November 2024 as a single cask edition at cask strength with an impressive 58.7% vol. Each bottle is unique, unadulterated and a tribute to the art of whisky distilling and bottle design.

For this special gift, we have not only focussed on the contents, but also on the packaging. The bottle was designed using artificial intelligence and carries a symbolic message: its irregular shapes and levels symbolise the highs and lows, milestones and challenges of our 40-year company history. This sustainable concept is rounded off with recycled corks – a symbol of our conscious use of resources.

The first bottle of this exceptional whisky was presented to CEO Remo Kobluk of Rugen Distillery as a special token of appreciation. This project would not have been possible without the expertise and support of the entire Rugen Distillery team. Our special thanks go to their long-standing partnership, passion and commitment that made it possible to realise this vision.

This whisky is not just a drink. It is a symbol of our values, our history and our passion – an exclusive piece of company history.

Univerre’s anniversary whisky: a masterpiece of flavour

Colour :
A brilliant golden yellow, reflecting the long maturation period in Oloroso sherry casks.

Body :
A strong, full body with a pleasantly incisive and oily texture that makes the whisky powerful and smooth at the same time.

 Aroma :
A harmonious bouquet of ripe, dried fruit, sultanas and grapes. Subtle caramel notes round off the flavour and give the whisky depth and elegance.

Flavour :
The flavour is characterised by complex aromas of roasted almonds and walnuts. A smooth caramel sweetness balances the spicy notes of the whisky and combines them with sweet nuances.

Finish :
A long, intense finish that tantalises the senses with notes of dark chocolate and a subtle hint of coffee. The lingering spiciness is reminiscent of salted caramel and lingers gently yet powerfully on the tongue.

This anniversary whisky combines depth, character and sophistication – a unique experience for whisky lovers.

A design that tells stories: The anniversary bottle for our 40th anniversary

Sometimes it’s not enough to tell a story – it has to be tangible, palpable. This is exactly what the anniversary bottle of our whisky embodies: A work of art that combines tradition and innovation and captures the essence of our company in glass and form.

A bottle that evokes emotions

Elegance through screen printing

Finished with a filigree screen print, the bottle becomes a visual masterpiece. The fine details not only emphasise its aesthetics, but also interweave the glass design with a deeper symbolism: just as the screen print has been permanently applied to the bottle, our values and our partnerships have also been indelibly inscribed in our history.

The matching box: Chiselled in stone

The whisky is presented in a box modelled on a stone structure – a powerful symbol of consistency and loyalty. This box symbolises the relationships with our customers, which are carved in stone. Over 300 customers have been with us for 40 years – an impressive sign of trust and shared history. The connection to the bottle is reinforced by the symbolism of the screen printing: both elements combine craftsmanship and longevity, just as our partnerships have characterised us.

Sustainability meets design

The recycled cork stopper is more than just a functional detail. It symbolises our awareness of sustainability and our respect for the environment – values that have always been part of our philosophy.

This bottle and its box are more than just packaging. They tell of 40 years of passion, of trust and of the consistency that connects us with our customers.
