Domaine Gérald Besse: An exclusive bottle for the 40th vintage
Since 1979, the Gérald Besse family estate has been building its history in the vineyards of the Valais. Gérald Besse, together with his wife Patricia, started out with an initial parcel of land and an unfailing love of viticulture, inherited from his grandfather. In 1984, they set up their own winery in an old farmhouse to produce their first vintage. With time and a shared passion, the estate gradually grew to 20 hectares, where each plot is cultivated with care and rigour. Today, their daughter Sarah is carrying on this heritage by combining expertise and innovation within the business, ensuring the continuity of this family winegrowing tradition.
A unique terroir for wines of character
The Gérald Besse estate stands out for its in-depth knowledge of its terroirs, located on the steep slopes of Martigny and Bovernier. Each grape variety is carefully planted according to the soil and microclimate, between granite influences and limestone veins. This diversity allows for authentic vinification, where the expression of each grape variety is respected and sublimated. The barrel cellar, created in 2001, has strengthened the estate’s offer by providing a range of wines for laying down, ‘Les Serpentines’, wines that are balanced and deep. Thanks to organic viticulture and precise monitoring at every stage, Sarah produces sincere, refined wines that bear witness to their terroir and the family’s commitment to quality and respect for nature.
A bold creation to commemorate the 40th vintage
To celebrate the 40th vintage with dignity, the Gérald Besse estate decided to mark the occasion with an artistic and innovative touch by opting for digital printing on its bottles. This bold, modern process was chosen for the creative freedom it offers, enabling the estate to create an exclusive, personalised design.
The carefully crafted visual pays homage to the very nature of the vine, featuring its essential elements: leaves, bunches of grapes and flowers. This choice is not insignificant; it evokes the cycle of life and renewal of the vineyard, and the patience and care that each stage of the winemaking process requires. The vibrant, contemporary colours add a dynamic, festive dimension, perfectly in tune with the spirit of celebration surrounding this anniversary. This unique design, both a tribute and a renewal, reflects not only respect for the heritage of the Gérald Besse estate, but also its focus on the future.
