Fruit drinks in glass bottles are very popular!

On the eve of the results of the Swiss Fruit Juice and Cider Competition, we have listed the trends in both fruit-based drinks and glass bottles.

Why choose a glass bottle?

More and more producers of fruit drinks are opting for glass bottles. Indeed, consumer habits are changing and the trend is towards glass. Glass packaging, synonymous with quality and durability, makes it possible to highlight the virtues and character of every product. As each drink is unique, glass has the advantage of offering a wide range of bottles in different shapes and colours. In addition, a glass bottle guarantees optimal protection and conservation!

Apple juice rises through the ranks

Apple juice is the most popular drink among the Swiss, who consume eight litres per person per year. They particularly love its delicious flavour as well as its natural nutrients. In its carbonated form, known as Apple Schorlé, this drink is a light, healthy thirst-quencher, rich in vitamins and minerals.

Innovative apple juice in a glass bottle from Schnouse GmbH

The idea of filling a glass bottle with Apple Schorlé was the brainchild of Donat Berger. We have already undertaken many exciting glass-related projects for Apfelgold. Its latest product, “Apfelschorle”, is available in 33 cl glass bottles. These are personalised with a silkscreen print in yellow, green and red. This innovative, modern personalisation design covers the entire surface. The glass bottle used for this Schorlé boasts a contemporary design combined with a traditional look that reminds us of the past.

Apfelgold consists of 80% pure apple juice, 20% water and carbon dioxide. It is naturally cloudy and available in 33 cl glass bottles to match the three varieties:

● Idared comes in a red bottle: flowery and discreet.
● Surgrauech comes in a yellow bottle: intense and full-bodied
● Boskoop comes in a green bottle: fruity and sparkling

100% naturally Swiss apple juice in a glass bottle from 70er Kollektivgesellschaft

When tradition and modernity meet, the result is a surprisingly genuine Schorlé apple juice. 70er Kollektivgesellschaft exclusively uses pure apple juice as the base product for its Schorlé. Moreover, as the name “70er” suggests, it contains 70% juice. In addition, the drink is 100% vegan thanks to the addition of a new type of pea protein instead of gelatine, which also makes it clearer.

Extremely aromatic and refreshing, this apple juice is available in 33 cl Long Neck custom glass bottles. The design on the glass bottle is both modern and innovative: simple but effective. The apple design in black more closely reflects the contents, which reassures consumers.

Fruit juice: a daily pleasure

Natural thirst-quenching drinks from Bänz Getränke

Bänz Getränke’s idea: to produce a truly authentic drink. It must taste good and be healthy, while being based on regional products. This is how Bänz Getränke was born. Over time, many different flavours have been developed. The Bänz recipe is simple: you take fresh fruit juice, mix it with a little water without any additives and Bänz is ready to drink. The result is impressive: Bänz beverages are tasty and contain very little natural fruit sugar. An ideal thirst-quencher for keeping fit.

Bänz natural fruit juices are available in small, handy 33 cl glass bottles. These are reminiscent of the traditional glass bottles of yesteryear. The design on the glass bottle alone will remind you of the good old days. Another excellent example of how modernity and nostalgia can be harmoniously combined. Bänz Getränke offers a total of six unusual fruit juice varieties, which you should definitely try!

Cider reinvents itself

Thanks to the craze for local produce and the many varieties of apples, this traditional drink is enjoying an imaginative, creative, surprising and even gastronomic revival. Several new versions have been created in recent years, while others have just completed their participatory funding campaign, such as Wildhorn, the artisanal cider from the self-taught Gauthier Rey based in Valais. He has created a factory that brews cider in a handcrafted and environmentally friendly way. The fruit used to produce this cider comes from organic farming and is so-called downgraded fruit, i.e. it does not meet all the sales criteria for mass distribution.

Revolutionary “Lai Beûtchïn” cider from Brasserie Blanche Pierre

Brasserie Blanche Pierre owes it existence to the ambition of three friends to create an alternative to industrially brewed beer. This innovative artisanal brewery bears the name of the street where it was born, in keeping with its radically “localist” ideology. Everyone contributes based on a horizontal hierarchy, sharing their skills and communicative enthusiasm, thereby creating the ideal conditions for the supply of organic raw materials, as well as the sale of their beer and cider.

The brewery’s beer and cider bottles have a distinctive visual identity with revolutionary accents. The personalisation of the glass bottles produces an “offbeat” style that highlights both the beverage and the philosophy. Brewed using apples from the Jura region, this sparkling, golden-coloured raw cider is called “Lai Beûtchïn”, meaning “Wild Apple”. It is both dry and refreshing, fruity without being sweet. Its personalised glass bottle is highly attractive!

Award-winning “La Pépite” cider from Les Fruits de Martigny

La Pépite is a traditionally brewed cider created by Les Fruits de Martigny SA in collaboration with Maurice Arbellay. It all starts with the choice of apple variety, namely the sweet and tart aromatic Chantecler and the sweet Antarès. Apples that are 100% from Valais. In 2019, this cider won the gold medal in the annual competition organised by Fruit-Union Switzerland.

It is available in a “Cyder”-type glass bottle, with its typical shape and dark colour. “La Pépite” is a traditional handcrafted cider that is best served chilled. The glass bottle should never be shaken and the cider should be poured like a beer. As it stops fermenting in the glass bottle, this needs to be able to withstand the pressure. It is a real pleasure to sample.
