The Wall Gin is distilled in a brand new distillery at the Eigergletscher station, at a remarkable altitude. This unique location offers exceptional conditions for distillation. Philip Zollner, master distiller at Rugen Distillery, has put all his expertise into creating this exceptional gin.
‘Producing gin at this altitude is an unprecedented challenge,’ says Zollner. The low atmospheric pressure and low boiling point mean that distillation is gentle, preserving the delicate aromas of the alpine plants used, such as juniper, spruce and mountain mint.
This gin is distinguished by its refreshing profile, enriched by a mineral signature that evokes the very essence of the mountains. One of the special features of the process is that the distillate is run over a stone extracted from the north face of the Eiger, a rock dating from the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods. This detail gives the gin a unique mineral touch, embodying the raw, majestic spirit of the Eiger.
